Since opening in 1963 by the Sweat Family, we have experienced consistent growth, resulting in numerous expansions. Initially, Sweat Tire provided tire re-capping for $10.95/tire outdoors near the Grand Theatre. Not long after having been in business, the theater was purchased to serve as an office. In 1965, the adjoining vacant lot was closed in to create the 6-bay automotive shop that you see today.
In need of additional office space and customer waiting areas, the Fossburg Furniture store next door was purchased in 1980. Going along with our slogan, “We Stock What The Competition Can’t!”, we expanded further in 1985, purchasing the Hub City Florist building for warehousing our broad product line.
On October 1, 2007, Dewane and Carmen Hayes purchased Sweat Tire Company from third-generation Sweats. Recently we have made substantial renovations to the historic Robertsdale location, as well as expanded to Bay Minette, Fairhope and Loxley locations.
